Ultimate Candle Care Guide

Candle Care Guide 1

So, you’ve chosen your lumulen fragrance companion (or two 🙂) and you’ve got questions!  Don’t fret, my friends.  Allow us quickly run you through some candle-burning do’s & don’ts!

Do’s:
Do prepare your candle for its first burn.
Do find the perfect surface for your candle.
Do keep your candle free of debris and dust.
Do keep your wicks trimmed.
Do ensure the wick is fully centered after each burn.
Do repurpose your candle jar once you’ve reached the end of its life.
Do enjoy the aromatic ritual and treat yourself often! ♡

Don’ts:
Don’t light it & leave it! Remember to keep an eye on your candle.
Don’t burn near flammable materials and avoid drafts.
Don’t burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
Don’t allow the flame to flicker excessively. Trim & relight if needed.
Don’t touch the candle jar until thoroughly cooled.

When preparing your candle for its first burn, it’s important to find a great location that’s stable, even, and heat-resistant. In addition, be sure your wick is 1/4” in length prior to lighting to avoid soot and smoke. Be sure to choose an area that is draft-free, as well.

Allow extra time for your first burn but do not exceed 4 hours. Typically, it takes about 3 hours for our 7 oz candles to reach a full melt pool (melted wax covering the surface of the candle). This sets your candle up for a long, even-burning life ahead!

Lastly, post-burn, you’ll want to check that your wick hasn’t shifted slightly. If it has, gently adjust the wick while the wax is still molten to ensure it’s centered.

*We recommend always using candle accessories to care for your candles, such as a wick trimmer and candle snuffer. Keep an eye on our shop offering, as we’ll be offering candle accessory sets soon!
