Wooden Wick: Tips + Tricks
Caring for a wooden wick candle is essential to ensure it burns evenly and lasts as long as possible. Here are a few tips & tricks to help you care for your lumulen wooden wick candle:
1. Trim the wick: Before lighting your candle, always trim the wooden wick to about 1/8 - 1/4 inch. This will help prevent the wick from smoking and create a clean burn.
2. Burn time: Allow your candle to burn for at least three hours or until the wax has melted to the edges of the container on the first burn. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures the candle will burn evenly in the future.
3. Avoid drafts: Avoid burning your wooden wick candle in drafty areas. Drafts can cause the wick to flicker and create an uneven burn.
4. Extinguish correctly: When it's time to put out your candle, use a snuffer or gently blow it out. This helps prevent the wick from smoldering, which can create smoke.
5. Store properly: When not in use, store your wooden wick candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps prevent discoloration and extends the life of the candle.
6. Maintain the wick: Remove as much charred wood as possible before each use. This will prevent your wick from self-extinguishing. We suggest using wick trimmers or nail clippers.
